Kids Acting Classes
Kids acting classes are a great way to introduce your child to the camera and let him open up and express himself freely.
Acting, like any other art form, is based on fundamental techniques and understandings. In addition, you'll find many kids acting classes encourage children to trust themselves not only in front of the camera but in everyday life. They can also provide a powerful confidence building experience.
In fact, many acting classes aimed at children are first about building a child's self-confidence and self-esteem, and then about acting and performing. Class structure may include a wide variety of acting activities including voice, imagination, and improvisation. In addition, your child might learn the fundamentals of behind the scenes work such as set design and lighting, or stage combat techniques, or even explore the classics such as Shakespeare.
The type of kids acting classes you choose for your child should depend on the interests of your child, the age appropriateness, and your child's acting experience and talents.
Here are some programs to help getting you familiar with the possibilies:
TVI Acting Schools For Kids/Teens
TVI Actors Studio has acting schools in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Acting classes for children, teens and young adults for ages 5-17. Acting programs are taught by leading kids talent agents, casting directors, producers, managers and directors as well as recognized acting coaches and teachers.
The Young Actor's Studio
At The Young Actor's Studio we offer acting classes for teens, children, young adults and kids. Acting classes at our studio are centered around encouraging and praising each student for who they are and teaching them to use their own behavior, personality, and charm in their roles. They learn to create a unique, original character that is truly their own. In our kids acting classes, we teach the student to trust themselves to live naturally and effortlessly on camera, or on stage. Through the Stanislavski system, the child, teen or young adult becomes fearless and gains a strong confidence that can be applied to all areas of life. The young actor develops a love for the work, and with this, the ability to survive and work as an actor, if that becomes his or her
choice.
Kids Acting Studio
We provide a supportive, fun environment where young people can be creative, expressive and improve their communication skills--traits that improve performance in school and enhance one's life. We feel the process of learning and striving for individual excellence is important in developing self-confidence and self-esteem. Each class is age appropriate; though the description of a class is the same for all age groups, the level of work changes depending on the age of the class, so students are encouraged and challenged.
Northwest Children's Theater And School
Our year-round theater school offers Skills classes and Playlabs for ages 4 1/2-18, an internship program, and summer employment/volunteer opportunities for teens. Off-site classes and production support are available to local schools and programs that serve at-risk youth. Kid's Company NW and Teens NW: Troupes perform in the Portland metro and SW Washington communities.
Stepping Stone Theater School For Young Actors
SteppingStone Theatre offers a series of acting and performance classes for students aged 3.5 to 16 years. Your child or teen will learn creative ways to develop character, and plot through the use of body, voice, imagination, improvisation, pantomime and more! Our classes are structured to build ensemble, confidence, stage presence, listening skills, and creativity in a non-threatening, casual environment where everyone’s ideas are encouraged and incorporated into all they create. Class sizes are small, and each student receives lots of individual attention from the artist-educators. At the end of the 10-week course, the students present what they have created to friends and family.
Chas School of Film and Television Child Acting Classes
Too often children's acting classes on any level provide kids only with fun. At Cha-s School of Film and Television, kids not only have fun but learn the art of acting. Charles knows how to work with children on their level providing a rewarding experience they can use in school plays, community theater or the professional world of film and television. His child acting classes are also designed to help confidence, social and English skills. They learn monologues, perform scenes together, and work in front of the camera doing commercials, improvisation, and cold readings from scripts. Kids, teens, and adults all attend the same acting classes and learn to work well together having fun and experiencing something valuable.
On Camera & Improv Classes For Kids & Teens
New LCA acting students can join our Acting Intensive 1 or the Improv Workout. Both classes are very important for students who want to develop a holistic approach to their actor training. The classes complement one another and can be taken together in the same session at a discounted price. Improvisation is essential for creativity and thinking on your feet. Improv skills are used all the time by actors on stage or the screen and are especially helpful in commercial auditions. LCA’s on-camera acting classes prepare students for auditions and scene work involving a script. The classes are filmed, which allows parents and students to see progress and improvement through a class and through a session. The filming also teaches students how to "act for the camera", which is essential preparation for most of the work actors will encounter.
