Disney Acting AuditionsIf you're a kid and you want to be an actor or a dancer or a singer, one of the first opportunities that will likely come to mind will be Disney. Whether it's at one of Disney's theme parks or auditioning for the Disney Channel, there are a world of opporunities for the talented and dedicated child actor. And they all start with Disney acting auditions. Okay, now that you're jazzed, let's face the harsh reality: there are thousands upon thousands of kids looking for a way to break into acting through the Disney Channel. You're going to have plenty of competition, no matter what role you're after. And unlike other roles, when Disney goes looking for a child actor, it looks for kids who not only have talent but also can carry the wholesomeness, energy, and personality of the Disney brand. So how do you get started? First, you need to audition. The simplest, most direct way to get an audition is through an agent. Since the vast majority of Disney Channel auditions are conducted in Los Angeles, it helps if you live there and if your agent is located there. It's your agent's job to know what Disney and other companies are looking for and to help get you an opportunity to audition when an appropriate role is open. There are other pages on this website that discuss how to prepare for an audition, so we won't address that here. Instead, we want to make you aware that landing a part for a Disney role is a process, not a single audition. First you have to catch the interest of a casting associate. Sometimes this means that he or she sees you headshot, reads about your background, and that's enough to move you up to the attention of the casting director. In most cases you'll do an audition for the casting director, and if that's successful, the casting director will recommend bringing you back for future auditions. These additional auditions will involve the producers, and others, who will all be trying to weed the list down to the final choice. The final step in the process is a testing audition. This takes place when the list of actors has been whittled down to three or four. This is when the final choice will be made. Throughout the process, the auditions will be videotaped for future reference. One final note: don't pay for an audition. If someone offers to get you a Disney Channel audition for a fee, you're wasting your time and money. Disney doesn't charge for its auditions, even when it's making the rounds, looking for talent.
