Child Acting Audition

The first rule before you send your child off on a child acting audition is being honest. Make sure your child understands that no role is guaranteed. Make sure your child is aware of the fact that it might take hundreds of auditions before he or she lands the first role. Let the decision to pursue acting be your child's decision.

Okay, now that we've got that out of the way.

When you decide to support a child’s passion for acting, you need to know how to find auditions for your child. You might want to use an agent for this, just do your research and make sure you find one that's legitimate and has a successful track recond. Be suspicious of agents asking for upfront money and who haven't been registered with the Screen Actors Guild.

Next, to help your child prepare for both auditions and future roles, get him or her into acting classes and local theater groups. A child actor must have talent, good reading skills, voice projection, and experience. So every opportunity to learn and to work should be grabbed.

When you finally do make it to a child acting audition, try to observe the unwritten standard that mandates one parent for each child on the working set. Leave the relatives, friends and pets at home. Due to the intense level of competition at an acting audition and the demands of the business in general, child actors should be very focused.
