Acting Classes
Acting classes can cover a wide range of acting topics: film acting, scene study, auditioning, cold readings, monologues, on camera work, theater, etc. So before you go searching for an acting class, you need to know what you most need to develop in your acting repertoire.
Once you have a clear understanding of what you want and need to learn, you'll want to find out which acting classes are available and who's teaching them. The instructor is as important, if not more important, than the area of acting you'll be learning. Does he or she have a background in that area? How long has he been teaching? Does he have a reputation as a good instructor?
Preferably, acting classes should work in concert with one another. One class of study should naturally lead to another class of study, so that over time, you're able to learn and expand your knowledge and skills to cover many aspect of the acting process. For instance, while you may be hungry for specific techniques, such as the Meisner Technigue or the Michael Chekhov Technique, you should also be grounded in the pratical tools you need to survive and prosper as a creative professional.
