You should find some valuable tips that you take forward with you in your pursuit to be a successful actor. Acting Help - Tips 1. To be a good actor, you have to be able to get inside a character and live as that character – to convince your audience (and even yourself) that you are that character. Considering that a characer is primarily the result of dialogue on a page, dramatic situations, and your own imagination, it can be a challenging undertaking. 2. A good actor will have mastery over his or her body. Movement can include fighting, dancing, affectations, evocative expressions, and more. 3. Your voice must be clear enough to be understood from a distance. In addition, you may need the skill and talent to sing or to speak with various accents. 4. The most difficult challenge of an actor is the expression of emotion. You must be able to assume different emotions at will – crying on demand, for example, or being able to give an effective illusion of happiness or excitement. 5. Stanislavski’s theory of method acting provides one of the most widely-used techniques for portraying realistic emotions. At its foundation, you draw upon a time in your own experience when you felt the emotion you wish to portray. For example, if your character is sad over the death of her mother, you might think of the time when you were small and your dog died.
